New Features with Version 2016

The latest release by Sage has considerable functionality improvements over the previous versions, arguably one of their most effective software upgrades for a number of years. Previous versions have focussed on database stability and reporting speed, but these changes may not have been immediately obvious to the end user.

In addition to the ability to use the Sage cloud server as a conduit between two or more disparate locations sharing one set of data version 2015 introduced a new user interface. Whilst on the surface this looked fresher, many of the underlying screens and much of the functionality was unchanged. Version 2016 has continued and extended this new updated and modernised theme, but significantly there have been many very useful changes/additions which have come about during this latest update.

A number of the more noticeable differences :

Error Corrections

It is now possible to edit journals, un-allocate credits and payments in the sales/purchase ledgers, and track which users have edited transactions and when.

Columns in Lists

Sage 50 has many screens that are basically columns and rows. It has always been possible to add in/remove columns and size appropriately. The choice of fields available was sometimes limited but much effort has been made to make many more fields available, eg: exchange rate, foreign balance, currency code.

Drill Down

Drill down functionality has been extended across many more parts of the system, making for a much more satisfactory experience searching for information.

User Interface Consistency

Sage 50 now remembers your customised screens by user, consistently across the system. The customisation options (column widths etc) have improved functionality.
